The celestial days of the week

The celestial days of the week

Did you know that each day of the week is governed by a planet or celestial force? You can start to see this when you break it down as each day captures the vibe of its ruler.

Monday is ruled by the Moon (Lunes).

Monday always gets a bad rap because it's the start of the "traditional" work week and has a very back to the grind feel to it. Have you ever heard the expression, "case of the Mondays"? It refers to the moodiness and grumpiness of a situation. The Moon is the day where it can feel like OK - the party is over, the weekend is over - now let's ease into the week and compose ourselves. Much like the moon - which is the biggest emotional cosmic entity we are ruled by, the energy of Monday encourages us to tap into our emotional needs or feels.

Tuesday is ruled by Mars (Martes).

While I love ALL days, Tuesday believe it or not is probably my favorite. I think it's because I'm a Virgo and I love to be super productive. There is a two for Tuesday vibe that takes over that says - I can do this and get it done as Mars is the planet of war, action, force, drive and independence. I find that in any role I've had professionally, it really is the day where everyone collectively gets over the Monday blues, buckles down and focuses into the week and actually gets a good chunk of work done this day. It makes me smile from ear to ear when I can check items off my list. Tuesday is a great day to get things done!

Wednesday is ruled by Mercury (Miercoles) .

Wednesday's child is full of woe - but really I think it's the Mercurial thoughts that come out for those born on a Wednesday like I was. Mercury is the God / planet of Communication. Communication comes in a number of forms - and can be verbal, non verbal, through numerous dialects, transmitters, patterns and conduits. Your senses and body are built to communicate with each other and with others. Often times Wednesdays are great days to send out newsletters or notices. It is the humpday of the workweek - smack dab in the middle - so it's still logical, functional and nestled nicely in between the week's ends. A fabulous day for communication of all kinds.

Thursday is ruled by Jupiter (Jueves).

Ahh the planet of luck and fortune! Thursday is an abundant, fun day that also carries the productive energy of Tuesday, the matter of factness of Wednesday, but as Friday Jr. - it gets us in the mindset of fun, unwinding, celebrating and gearing up for the weekend. It's one of the most underrated days to go out - ensuring that if you do, you're in for a few surprise treats. Thursday carries a jubilant well intentioned fun nature to it. While we're currently in a social distancing phase - maybe this is your new night for a virtual house party?!

Friday is ruled by Venus.

The planet of love, beauty, commerce, and royalty. Many working class folks get paid on Fridays and generally puts many in a good mood since it's the last day of the workweek. It carries a fun cash register ring sound to it. Almost everyone feels good on a Friday and it's all TGIF - not only because the weekend is coming but because there is a feeling of accomplishment that comes to having tackled a lot during the work week. Naturally we let our guards down a little more and start to get in a celebratory mindset.

Saturday is ruled by Saturn.

The planet of structure, discipline, time and karma. Saturday sits between Friday , the close of the "traditional" workweek and the "Lord's day" / day of worship, Sunday. It lets us know that the world is turning and moving but it's more focused on the intersection of our work and home lives. It is the day where we can do errands, go out, live it up and not feel bound by our responsibilities even if we're tending to them the entire time. Traditionally a party pooper - Saturn really is a stable grounding day that lets us breathe and take stock of where we are in our lives and own respective cycles of time on this earth.

Sunday is ruled by the Sun.

The day of worship shows where we shine. The sun is our central force of energy in the sky and unlike the moon - it doesn't ask us to think as much as it asks us to enjoy the bounty, serenity and beauty of the day. Often times how you spend your Sunday really highlights what you cherish, love and value. It's also important to set up a ritual on Sunday to prepare for the week ahead. For me I love going out and enjoying nature and honor the day and entire week by being thankful for my surroundings. I also find peace and comfort in nature.

Have you learned anything new? What is your favorite day & why?

Action item: observe each week and what days / times stick out for you. Also find out which day of the week you were born on. Once you understand how your life plays out each day, you can start to pinpoint which times work best for you and your lifestyle. You may even find a connection with who you are based on the day you were born!

Have an amazing rest of your day wherever you are in the week and in the world.
