Astrology to me has always been more than the stars! I believe it's an artful science, a mystery and a universal language.
It takes a cycle based approach to analyze who we are and what we are experiencing through the lens of the planets and their placements in the sky at our birth and any given time.
A birth chart is essentially a blueprint of your life in cycles and can often "map" out your purpose. Trials and tribulations aside, this system also highlights the psychology of relationships and our place in the cosmos.
In Western Astrology, we are approaching the end of the astrological year (the ending of Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac) and beginning a new one when the sun enters Aries at the Spring Equinox on March 20th entering the 1st "house" in the system of twelve. Each house is governed by a sign which means it's governed by a planet. You may already be familiar with your sun sign if you've ever read your horoscope by referring to the dates that are laid out for you. However we are a culmination of numerous aspects and cosmic energy and must remember to view the placement of the Sun, Moon & Rising of a chart. Your natal chart is calculated by the date and time of your birth as well as your city of birth.
For newbies - the signs are as follows ---> Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces. Each sign is comprised of an element - which rotates by sign in the sequential order of Fire, Earth, Air and Water. There are also different phases a sign carries. For example - a sign may be Cardinal, Fixed or Mutable. Each holding different weight and fluidity to how the sign transforms the energy. It's also based on where we are in the season - beginning, middle, or end.
While I am not a licensed or certified Astrologer, you could say it's a definite love and passion of mine. My friends and colleagues are forever asking me about the stars and energy, often coming to me first to talk about the moon, the cosmos and our familial fave - Mercury retrograde. I have been actively following and studying the works of the following astrologers for the past five to six years! I have even worked with a few in former lives and have had readings from at least half. They are all phenomenal.

Anne Ortelee - I was first introduced to Anne's services by a friend from high school and had my first reading with Anne shortly after in 2014. Since then I've had quite a few detailed quarterly readings with her in person or virtually and I follow her weekly podcast on iTunes religiously every Sunday. We are both Virgos and her tweets literally fire off the exact moment I reach an epiphany. It was under Anne's guidance that I felt empowered to actively pursue my spiritual path and uncover myself and my love for ancient truths. Her mantra is "If it's in your heart, it's in your chart!" Annabel Gat - Yes! It was as if the stars had aligned and I had no idea that when we worked together briefly in 2010 -'11 that Annabel was an astro aficionado in training. She is a spitfire who tells it like it is and has an amazing new book The Astrology of Love and Sex - A Modern Compatibility Guide. She oozes compassionate energy with her laser precision readings and is a gem. Her scopes are readily available on Vice and her site while also being a teacher to a budding fleet of astro babes.
Ainslie Faust - I discovered Ainslie's work via Instagram in 2015 while I was living on Ainslie Street in Brooklyn. It felt kismet with our shared love of astrology and street art. I was compelled to reach out to her when I relocated to LA and we even worked together doing livestream healing work and readings for Oranum.com back in 2016-2017. We've got some funny stories to tell you all! She is also a published author, guide and gives attentive detail oriented readings. Ainslie is also super sweet and caring.
Candace Looft - Candace makes me want to be a millennial but yet gets my GenX ways! I took one of her shielding courses at House of Intuition years ago and finally felt like I found my tribe. Her Scorpio vibes make me feel at home and she has an arsenal of services and takes you on a journey. Her combination of astrology, intuition and guidance is a sacred blend that really does take you beyond the veil. She has sass, style and I feel the New Yorker in her (which reminds me of my inner New Yorker!! - as I lived there for 13 incredible years) and she really melts my heart. She truly is an advocate for all the lovers out there and speaks openly about love, narcissists, boundaries and keeps all signs in check while also highlighting their amazing characteristics. Chani Nicholas - Chani is a guiding light and effervescent force on the scene. She has a new book You Were Born for this in addition to her Cosmic Playlists on Spotify. She has a presence to her that is simply magical, gentle and she is on the forefront with Jessica Lanyadoo as the LGBTQ leaders on the astro scene - which makes this ally swoon! There is such a love and appreciation for humans while also touting the need to eradicate the world's toxic patriarchal standards. Jessica Lanyadoo - Who doesn't Love Lanyadoo?! Jessica is a down to earth, logical, sensitively sincere Canadian and I believe triple Cap. She is also a medium, published author and Ghost of a Podcast creator and resource extraordinaire. She is a strong political advocate who is lighting fire under the asses of many generations and the world needs her tremendously.
Mecca Woods - Mecca also has a very practical, clear, concise way of translating the energy and I love her daily Bustle readings that I catch on Twitter. She is also known for her coaching and I feel her heart pour out as well from across the country. Check out her site where she also has books, a podcast, courses, a blog, offers readings and encourages you to create the life you were meant to live.
Now of course I may have missed some of the amazing work and accolades of the ladies above but they truly are lights in a dark world and I've learned and admired so much from them over the years. To me I've never really been into celebs - but would say that the true stars are the cosmic service workers that are healing our world, guiding millions and teaching us all about the cosmic language that affects us all which is not only astrology - it is love, light and humanitarianism.
